Romania expands military recruitment and long-term defense strategy

The Romanian Ministry of National Defence has launched an extensive recruitment campaign to fill nearly 6,800 professional non-commissioned officer positions. To date, over 4,600 recruits have already begun their military careers across 38 counties and the Bucharest garrison. The ministry offers net monthly salaries ranging from 4,138 to 5,946 lei, along with potential rental subsidies.

This recruitment drive aligns with long-term strategic goals set by the National Defense Council. The council has adopted two key documents: an armament plan for 2027–2036 and a transformation program targeting the year 2044. The long-term vision aims to expand the Romanian Army to 120,000 active personnel, modernize technical capabilities, and establish a complete supply chain capable of supporting a prolonged conflict. Currently, the total number of Romanian military personnel—including soldiers, non-commissioned officers, and officers—does not exceed 70,000.
