Romania expands SCI 2000 social services program in rural communities
The SCI 2000 program, titled ‘Provision of integrated services in rural communities – facilitating access of vulnerable people to efficient and quality basic services’, is expanding across Romania. Funded by the European Social Fund Plus under the Inclusion and Social Dignity Program 2021–2027, the initiative aims to establish integrated community teams in over 70% of Romania's rural areas.
In Caraș-Severin county, 29 rural town halls have officially joined the program. The project has a total eligible value exceeding 4 billion lei, with 3.3 billion lei provided by the European Union. Each participating community will receive a specialized team covering three priority areas: social assistance, educational support, and community medical services.
In the Dragotești commune, local authorities are seeking over 2 million lei in European funding to support vulnerable residents. The proposed project aims to improve housing conditions for 30 families and provide home adaptations for 20 individuals to enhance safety and living quality.
