Romania to experience polar air wave and freezing temperatures

A polar air mass is set to bring a significant drop in temperatures across Romania, particularly during the weekend of November 7–8, 2026. According to the National Meteorological Administration (ANM), temperatures will fall below freezing in most regions, with the most severe cold expected in eastern Transylvania, where minimums could reach -10 degrees Celsius.

While Friday may see slightly higher daytime temperatures, reaching up to 15 degrees in some areas, the cooling will intensify through Saturday and Sunday. Most regions will see minimum temperatures between -8 and 0 degrees Celsius, though coastal and western hill areas will remain slightly milder.

Meteorologists also predict increased wind speeds, fog in low-lying areas, and isolated snowfall in the mountains, specifically in the Eastern and Southern Carpathians. While skies are expected to clear and become sunnier in many regions, the cold will be felt primarily during nights and early mornings.
