Romania's National Bank releases second Economic@BNR volume on financial sustainability
On 25 June, the National Bank of Romania (BNR) launched the second volume of the Economic@BNR project, titled “Financial sustainability – From deficits to nominal convergence”. The publication, coordinated by Vice‑Governor Cosmin Marinescu, analyses the country’s macro‑economic imbalances and outlines priorities for public‑finance sustainability, corporate governance of state‑owned enterprises, fiscal discipline, social system equity, and public‑investment allocation. It stresses the need to shift from quantitatively‑driven growth to qualitative reforms to secure macro‑economic stability and meet nominal convergence criteria. The volume, comprising ten chapters, presents new indicators on reserve fund allocations, pension contributions, state‑company performance, and budgetary pressures, and is available in Romanian and English both in print and electronically.
The report is intended to serve as a reference for policymakers, providing a comprehensive diagnostic of Romania’s economic vulnerabilities and proposing a roadmap for sustainable development and convergent growth within the European context.
