Romania: Fire safety drills in Botoșani and rising bear sightings in Mureș
In Botoșani, firefighters conducted a safety demonstration for over 170 children at Kindergarten No. 6. The session included an evacuation drill and lessons on emergency management. Using a fire truck and equipment, specialists taught children how to react to fire hazards and provided guidance on avoiding electrical risks and matches.
In Mureș County, increasing bear sightings have prompted warnings for residents and visitors. Gendarmes recently assisted a group of children on mountain bikes after they encountered a bear on the Cornești Plateau. Experts note that bears are currently in a phase of hyperphagia, consuming extra food to prepare for winter.
Wildlife-related damages in Mureș County have approached 2 million lei this year, with significant impacts on agricultural crops such as corn and sunflower. Authorities advise people to avoid walking alone after dark and to make noise to alert wildlife of their presence.
