Romania Forestry 2025 Harvest and Timișoara Wood Sale
The Municipality of Timișoara is set to approve the auction of approximately 3,540 cubic metres of timber from its public forest holdings. The sale, organized by the city’s Forestry Department in cooperation with the National Forest Administration (Romsilva), will include species such as ash, oak, elm, poplar, acacia and others. The timber originates mainly from the Green Forest area, which recently came under municipal management.
National data released by the Institute of National Statistics shows that Romania harvested a total of 19.41 million cubic metres of wood in 2025, an increase of 771,000 cubic metres over the previous year. Coniferous species accounted for 40.4% of the volume, followed by beech (30.8%) and oak (12.5%). About 95.9% of the harvest was carried out by licensed companies, with 12.628 million cubic metres coming from public forests. The remaining wood was sourced from private forests and forest vegetation on non‑forest land. The report also details regional contributions, with the North‑East region providing the largest share at 28.3% of the total harvest.
