Romania government plans urgent school safety measures

The Romanian government is preparing an integrated plan to increase safety in schools following recent incidents involving weapons in Bistrița, Pitești, and Timișoara. A dedicated working group, coordinated by Prime Minister Luca Niculescu, will meet with teachers, students, and parents to develop prevention and intervention strategies.

Proposed urgent measures include strengthening security at school entrances and within premises, training teachers to identify risks of violence and radicalization, and launching a media campaign to discourage violence. The Prime Minister emphasized that the plan must include clear responsibilities, rapid intervention protocols, and firm sanctions for violent acts.
