Romania: High consumer interest in AI for health and wellness
According to the PwC Voice of the Consumer 2026 study, 53% of Romanian respondents use artificial intelligence as a primary source for health and wellness information, a figure higher than both the regional average of 47% and the global average of 51%.
Regarding specific medical applications, 29% of Romanian participants expressed willingness to use AI for preliminary symptom evaluations and medical recommendations. Additionally, 36% are open to using AI for personalized fitness or wellness plans, while 31% would use it for meal planning, nutrition advice, and shopping lists. Other potential uses include monitoring sleep patterns and stress levels based on physiological data.
Adina Vizoli, Leader Health & Pharma at PwC Romania, noted that the openness to AI in health and wellness may reflect easier access to technology compared to traditional medical consultations. The study suggests that as the use of smart devices and health applications grows, companies providing reliable, personalized, technology-based solutions will have a competitive advantage.
