Romania high‑school graduation exams resume Thursday for elective subjects

On Thursday, Romanian high‑school graduates sat the written exam for their chosen elective subject, continuing the national érettségi schedule. The exam was originally set for Tuesday but was postponed after a red heat alert issued by meteorologists. Monday saw the Romanian language and literature exam, Wednesday featured the compulsory subject exam, and Friday will assess minority‑language students in their native tongue.

Nearly 131,000 candidates are registered for this summer session, including about 116,000 current‑year graduates and roughly 15,000 participants from earlier cohorts. Exams start at 09:00 and last three hours from the time exam papers are distributed. Only blue pens (or ballpoint pens) and black pencils may be used; calculators, phones, textbooks, dictionaries and other aids are prohibited and must be handed over to designated storage. Violations lead to exclusion from the exam and a two‑session ban. Results from the first exam stage are to be published on July 7, with final results due on July 13. The Ministry of Education provides a free hotline (0800 801 100) for reporting irregularities during exam days.
