The inaugural ITF M15 Țiriac Foundation Trophy, part of the ITF World Tennis Tour with US$15,000 prize money, reached its semifinals at the National Tennis Center in Bucharest. Eight qualifiers advanced to a 32‑player main draw that featured competitors from more than 15 nations. The semifinal pairings are Luka Talan Lopatić of Slovenia versus Romania’s Cezar Papoe, and Ilia Snitari of Moldova versus Italy’s Filippo Mazzola. The final is scheduled for Sunday around noon.
The 5th edition of the WTA 250 UniCredit Iași Open is set to begin on 12 July at the Ciric Sports Base. Two Romanian crowd favorites withdrew for medical reasons. World No. 18 Sorana Cîrstea announced an abdominal injury suffered at Wimbledon and said, “I am very disappointed… I will be in Iași on July 18 and 19 for autograph sessions.” Former champion Irina Begu withdrew after fracturing two toes, stating, “I am very sad and disappointed that I will miss one of my beloved tournaments.” Their absences were confirmed shortly before the tournament’s start.
