Romanian autostrada sections finished but closed as road works continue across the country

Three major highway sections—on the Capital Ring, the Moldovan motorway and the Transylvania motorways—have been completed to near‑full standards but remain unusable pending final inspections and bureaucratic delays, according to Transport Minister Horațiu Cosma.

Meanwhile, several county road modernization projects are progressing. In Hunedoara, the 13‑km "Drumul Regelui" (DJ 707) has reached about 20 % of work after six months, with protective walls, widened carriageways and bridge repairs under a €208‑million regional program. Suceava’s DJ 208E between Dolhești and Forăști is being resurfaced, benefiting roughly 7,000 residents. Dâmbovița signed a €390‑million contract to upgrade DJ 714 (Glod‑Padina‑Peștera), the largest road project in the region, adding full‑width paving and safety upgrades. Additional works include temporary traffic restrictions in Oradea, Sibiu, Timișoara and other Romanian cities, and partial road closures in Chișinău, Moldova, for water‑supply and electrical line repairs.

These coordinated infrastructure efforts aim to improve regional connectivity, safety and tourism potential, though some projects face implementation hurdles and cause short‑term traffic disruptions.
