Romania infrastructure and road accidents cause regional disruptions

A heavy vehicle transport caused a bridge collapse in Csobányos, Bacău County, on Wednesday morning. The iron structure over the Tatros River gave way under a convoy weighing approximately 60 tons, which reportedly lacked a special transport permit. While no injuries were reported, the incident caused significant traffic disruptions on road 12A.

Authorities have closed the crossing indefinitely, rerouting trucks to the Onyest – 11-es road and Kézdivásárhely route. A local detour is available for vehicles under 3.5 tons, but local streets are too narrow for heavy traffic. The emergency situation has also impacted medical services, requiring a SMURD ambulance from Kománfalva to be temporarily relocated to Bruszturószára to ensure continued emergency access.

In a separate incident in the Bihar region, a road accident involving two cars on the DEx16 road resulted in five people being hospitalized on Wednesday morning. Police have launched an investigation into the circumstances of the collision.
