Romania invests in school infrastructure and seismic safety
Local administrations in Romania are implementing significant investments to modernize school infrastructure and improve safety. In Târgoviște, projects exceeding 350 million lei are underway to upgrade educational facilities. Six schools have been completed in the last two years, with four more currently undergoing interventions, including the Voievodul Mircea High School, which is expected to be fully renovated by the end of the year. Future plans include projects for an additional 13 schools and kindergartens to benefit over 20,000 students.
In the Gorj region, specifically in Tismana, over 6.1 million lei is being allocated for seismic consolidation and energy renovation at Racoți and Topești schools. These projects aim to increase building safety against earthquakes and improve energy efficiency. The investments follow a series of earthquakes in 2023 that caused damage to various buildings in the county. The works at both locations are estimated to take approximately seven months to complete.
