Romania joins European child safety initiative amid local school transport vandalism

Romania has joined seven other Central European nations for the sixth edition of the ‘Child Safety in Central Europe’ initiative. This collaborative effort involves insurance industry associations, road safety organizations, public authorities, and educational institutions to prevent accidents involving children. The campaign focuses on information, education, and digital tools to address risks associated with new forms of mobility, such as electric scooters, while emphasizing fundamental safety measures like seatbelts and speed limits.

In a separate incident in Vâlcea County, a school minibus used by the Copăceni – Racovița Gymnasium was vandalized on its first day of service for the new school year. Local authorities have called on school management to identify the responsible students and demand compensation for damages. Officials also noted recent destruction within classrooms and urged parents to discuss the consequences of such behavior with their children, as the damage could impact future student transportation.
