Romania junior national teams begin international preparations

Romania's junior national teams are entering new phases of preparation for upcoming international competitions.

The Romania U20 rugby team will begin a training camp at CSN ‘Elisabeta Lipă’ Snagov on September 20. This camp serves as preparation for the World Rugby U20 Challenger tournament, which takes place in Santiago, Chile, from October 2 to October 17. Head coach Răzvan Popovici has selected a 34-player squad, including seven athletes currently playing in leagues across Italy, France, Ireland, Scotland, England, and Wales. A final 30-player roster will travel to Chile.

In football, the Romania U17 national team, coached by Alexandru Ciobanu, will travel to Slovenia for a series of friendly matches. The squad is scheduled to play two matches against the Slovenian U17 selection on September 22 and September 24 in Radenci, followed by a third friendly against a local team on September 27. These matches are part of the preparation for the UEFA EURO U17 2027 qualifying rounds, which begin in late October.
