Romania launches 138 MW of new wind capacity and secures financing for its largest battery storage system

Eurowind Energy Romania, a unit of Denmark's Eurowind Energy, has begun construction on three wind farms—Frumușita, Vector and Pecineaga North‑East—in Galati and Constanța counties. The projects will use 23 Vestas V162‑6.2 MW turbines, delivering a combined 138 MW of capacity, with commissioning expected in 2027.

Aukera Energy signed a €48.5 million financing agreement with the International Finance Corp. to complete the second phase of the Gura Ialomiței battery energy storage system. The phase adds 100 MW of power and 200 MWh of storage, bringing the facility to its planned 250 MW/500 MWh size. Commercial operation of the full system is targeted for early 2027. Both developments expand Romania's renewable energy portfolio and align with national recovery and resilience plans.
