Romania launches breast cancer awareness campaigns
Various initiatives are being launched in Romania to promote breast cancer awareness and prevention.
In Cluj-Napoca, the “Prof. Dr. Ion Chiricuță” Oncology Institute (IOCN) will organize the “ONE RIBBON. MANY STORIES.” event on October 16, 2026. Approximately 300 participants, including patients, survivors, medical professionals, and volunteers, will gather in Unirii Square to form a massive human ribbon. The formation will be captured via drone to symbolize international solidarity. The event aims to foster dialogue regarding early detection and prevention.
Additionally, Televiziunea Română (TVR) is participating in the “Pink Illumination” campaign supported by the Renașterea Foundation. On October 1, 2026, the TVR Tower will be illuminated in pink to symbolize solidarity with those affected by breast cancer. Throughout the month, TVR will broadcast dedicated health programming featuring oncologists and survivors to emphasize the importance of regular medical check-ups.
