Romania launches digital “Viața la țară” platform to boost agrotourism

The Romanian Chamber of Deputies approved a law creating the national digital platform “Viața la țară,” aimed at rural households that wish to offer agrotourism services. After registering with their local mayor and receiving a producer certificate, farms and artisans can list agricultural, artisanal, traditional and natural‑ecosystem activities, set visiting periods, and receive online bookings and payments. The platform will be built by the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development and operated by a private contractor selected through a public tender. Revenues from visitors will be collected on the platform, a commission retained by the operator, and the remainder transferred to participants, with tax information forwarded to ANAF.

The law also provides state support for promotion, free training courses, guidebooks on best practices, and financing for conservation of rural ecosystems and cultural heritage. The system is required to become operational within six months of the law’s entry into force.
