Romania launches national influenza vaccination campaign

Romania has launched its national influenza vaccination campaign for the upcoming cold season. Medical professionals recommend completing immunization during October to ensure sufficient antibody development before the epidemic peak, which is estimated for January.

Specific vaccine types are available based on age groups: intranasal serums for children, classic intramuscular formulas for adults, and high-dose vaccines for seniors over 65 to bolster weaker immune systems.

Under current health legislation, certain groups are eligible for 100% free vaccination, including children, pregnant women, individuals over 65, chronic disease patients, medical personnel, and institutionalized persons. Individuals aged between 45 and 65 without chronic illnesses are eligible for a 50% compensation on the reference price. Others may purchase the vaccine at full price. To receive the vaccine, citizens must consult their family doctor for a prescription, which can then be used at authorized pharmacies or administered in family doctor offices.
