Romania launches SNIAS digital social assistance system

The National Agency for Payments and Social Inspection (ANPIS) has announced the operationalization of the National Integrated Social Assistance System (SNIAS). This digital platform is designed to digitize and integrate social assistance processes, facilitating data exchange between relevant institutions and simplifying access to social benefits.

Through SNIAS, citizens can submit applications for social benefits online, eliminating the need to visit town halls or territorial agencies in person. The system aims to prevent the repetitive request for information that is already held in public authority records.

To use the platform, citizens must first create a digital identity via the ROeID application. While ROeID confirms a user's identity online, SNIAS manages the actual process of accessing and granting social benefits. The project is funded through the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR) under the digital transformation component and is implemented by ANPIS under the Ministry of Labor, Family, Youth and Social Solidarity.
