Romania launches student drug prevention initiatives in Sibiu and Dolj

Educational and preventive initiatives targeting drug use among high school students are being implemented in several Romanian regions.

In Sibiu, the “Spune NU. Rămâi TU!” (Say NO. Stay YOU!) project has been launched by the Asociația de Bun Gust and Turnul Sfatului. The program, co-financed by the Sibiu City Hall, aims to prevent drug consumption through conferences involving students from the George Barițiu Economic College and the Art High School. The initiative addresses local data indicating that approximately 21% of 12th-grade students in Sibiu have used drugs at least once. Speakers for the event include a former drug user, a paramedic from the Sibiu County Ambulance Service, and a medical doctor specializing in addiction.

Simultaneously, in Dolj County, the School Safety Bureau of the Dolj County Police Inspectorate is conducting the “TU ALEGI DIRECȚIA!” (YOU CHOOSE THE DIRECTION!) campaign. This awareness program covers locations including Rojiște, Bratovoești, and Craiova. Police officers are engaging with students to discuss the risks and legal consequences of possessing, using, and trafficking psychoactive substances, while encouraging responsible decision-making and seeking support from trusted adults.
