Cosmin Tudoran detained for terrorist threats in Bucharest

Cosmin Tudoran, a 21-year-old man previously convicted of assaulting a Bangladeshi delivery worker in Bucharest, has been detained by DIICOT for continuous terrorist threats. Prosecutors allege that between October 2025 and the present, Tudoran used social media to issue repeated threats against ethnic and religious minorities, motivated by religious and ideological animus.

In addition to targeting individuals with threats of violence against their lives and physical integrity, the suspect allegedly threatened to destroy a place of worship belonging to a religious minority in Bucharest. Investigators stated the intent was to intimidate a segment of the population through significant psychological impact. Some reports indicate the threats may have specifically targeted a synagogue.

The investigation was supported by the Romanian Intelligence Service (SRI). Prosecutors intend to request a 30-day preventive arrest warrant from the Bucharest Court of Appeal.
