Romania Ministry of Education proposes enrollment changes and reports PRIMII funding results
The Romanian Ministry of Education and Research has proposed changes to the school calendar for the 2027-2028 academic year. Under the new proposal, the enrollment period for preparatory classes will be shortened to 24 days, running from March 31 to April 23, 2027. This represents a 13-day reduction compared to the 2026 enrollment window.
Additionally, the Ministry announced the results of the Integrated Intervention Measures for Primary Education Success (PRIMII) program. A total of 709 funding requests were submitted to support primary education. The program, valued at over 1.21 billion lei, aims to support approximately 50,000 children over three years by targeting functional illiteracy and school dropout rates. Developed in collaboration with the World Bank and UNICEF, the initiative provides nearly double the standard funding for students in vulnerable schools to be used for remedial activities, extracurriculars, and educational resources.
