Romania Ministry of Education proposes new Baccalaureate grading system

The Romanian Ministry of Education is proposing significant changes to the National Evaluation and Baccalaureate exams for 2027. One major proposal involves a new digital grading system where an automated platform will alert teachers if there is a discrepancy of more than one point between two evaluators. This system is intended to prompt a re-analysis of the work without forcing a grade change, aiming to ensure accuracy. Additionally, the Ministry plans to move Baccalaureate exams to earlier dates, such as mid-June, to avoid extreme heat during the summer.

In a separate development regarding the 2026 Baccalaureate session in Timiș County, 405 appeals were filed by students. The highest number of complaints centered on Romanian language, mathematics, and biology. Specifically, 153 appeals were made regarding elective subjects, with biology, geography, and anatomy seeing the most requests. For mandatory subjects, Romanian language and literature, as well as mathematics, recorded the highest volumes of contested scores.
