Romania Ministry of Education sets 2026-2027 school calendar

The Romanian Ministry of Education and Research has established the structure for the 2026-2027 academic year. Classes for students and kindergarten children are scheduled to begin on September 7, 2026, and will conclude on June 18, 2027, for most students. The academic year consists of 36 weeks of instruction divided into five modules.

Key holiday periods include: - Autumn break: October 24 – November 1, 2026 - Winter break: December 23, 2026 – January 10, 2027 - Mobile holiday: A one-week break to be scheduled between February 15 and March 7, 2027, at the discretion of local County School Inspectorates - Spring break: April 24 – May 4, 2027 - Summer break: Begins June 19, 2027

Additionally, 9th-grade students will begin the year with new textbooks, which will be provided free of charge for those in the state education system. National programs such as ‘Școala altfel’ and ‘Săptămâna verde’ are set to run from September 7, 2026, to April 23, 2027.
