Romania Ministry of Health verifies hospital power backup capacity

The Romanian Ministry of Health has conducted a nationwide assessment of power backup capabilities within its medical facilities. The audit aimed to ensure the continuity of medical services in the event of electricity supply interruptions.

Data centralized by the Ministry indicates that 340 sanitary units across the country possess a total of 948 generator sets. The Ministry confirmed that all public hospitals have access to generators and alternative power solutions, including for external medical structures.

Interim Health Minister Cseke Attila stated that the verification was strictly preventive and not prompted by an active emergency. He emphasized that patient safety and medical continuity must not depend on unforeseen circumstances, noting that the goal was to identify vulnerabilities and update available resources in advance.
