Romania Ministry of Investments plans €2.9 billion in EU funding calls for 2026-2027

The Romanian Ministry of Investments and European Projects is preparing funding calls totaling €2.9 billion for the 2026-2027 period. Of this amount, €2.2 billion is contributed by the European Union through the 2021-2027 Cohesion Policy programs. This follows the conclusion of investments under the National Recovery and Resilience Plan (PNRR).

The Ministry has not specified the exact distribution of funds between private companies and public institutions. However, eight specific calls for companies have been identified for November and December 2026, with a combined indicative budget of approximately €484 million. The largest portions are expected through the Smart Growth, Digitalization, and Financial Instruments Program 2021-2027.

Additionally, the Ministry is analyzing the possibility of transferring digitalization projects that were canceled or removed from the PNRR into other European programs. Educational infrastructure investments may also be funded through regional 2021-2027 programs, though the Ministry noted that such transfers are not automatic and require new eligibility verifications and financing contracts.
