Romania mobilizes for National Cleanup Day on September 19

Romania is mobilizing for National Cleanup Day on September 19, 2026, as part of the global Let’s Do It World movement. The initiative, coordinated by Let’s Do It, Romania!, aims to encourage environmental responsibility and civic engagement through large-scale waste collection efforts across the country.

Over 179,000 volunteers have already registered to participate in simultaneous cleaning actions in all Romanian counties and Bucharest. The campaign theme, “What do you leave behind?”, focuses on individual responsibility and the long-term impact of daily choices on the environment.

Local mobilizations are occurring in various regions, including Maramureș, Szatmár County, Dolj, Lugoj, and the commune of Șag. In Dolj, approximately 9,000 volunteers, including students and public institution employees, are expected to participate. The movement involves a wide range of actors, including local authorities, schools, NGOs, and private companies, all working to clean up natural areas and promote a culture of environmental stewardship.
