Romania holds National Cleanup Day as Navy recovers drone fragments

Romania observed a massive mobilization for National Cleanup Day, organized by the Let’s Do It, Romania! campaign. Hundreds of thousands of volunteers across various counties participated in collecting waste from natural areas, tourist sites, and public spaces. Notable local efforts included 14,000 volunteers in Gorj collecting 15,500 bags of waste, and 170 students in Pitești participating in the initiative. In Botoșani, over 17,000 students and 1,900 teachers joined the cleanup, though local officials were noted as absent from the event.

Separately, in the Black Sea, Romanian Navy EOD divers recovered three drone fragments from the country's Exclusive Economic Zone. The objects were found at varying distances from Constanța, ranging from 33 to 42 nautical miles offshore. The Ministry of National Defence confirmed that none of the recovered fragments contained explosive payloads and posed no pyrotechnic risk. No navigation warnings were issued following the recovery operations.
