Romania: Parliamentary appointees retain control of key ministries
In Romania, individuals appointed through parliamentary power continue to hold significant influence over various ministries and state secretariats, despite judicial decisions overturning several government decrees.
Key figures currently managing critical departments include Oana Țoiu at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Radu Miruță at the Ministry of Defense and the Department of Transport, Diana Buzoianu at the Ministry of Environment, and Irinel Darău at the Ministry of Economy, Digitalization, Entrepreneurship, and Tourism. The report notes that following the dismissal of the government by Parliament 129 days ago, 16 ministries and 52 state secretaries remain under the control of these officials.
