IGAv warns of false information regarding leadership changes

The General Inspectorate for Aviation (IGAv) in Romania has issued warnings regarding the circulation of false information online. Specifically, a manipulated image has been widely redistributed on social media, falsely claiming a decision by the Prime Minister to appoint a new military officer to lead the institution.

Officials clarified that the current Inspector General is Air Flotilla General Cătălin-Paul Dache, who has held the position since 2019. The fraudulent document contained several errors, including incorrect spellings of the names of interim Prime Minister Ilie Bolojan and the Secretary General of the Government.

In a broader context, experts have launched the ‘Resilient Minds’ campaign to combat emotional disinformation and encourage critical thinking. The initiative aims to educate users on how to verify sources and identify online manipulation strategies used to influence behavior through fear or sadness.
