Romania pension regulations: Deadlines for contestations and documentation
Pensioners in Romania face specific deadlines and documentation requirements to ensure the continuity and accuracy of their benefits.
According to the National House of Public Pensions (CNPP), individuals who believe their pension amount is incorrect due to errors in calculating average annual points, work seniority, or special conditions have 45 days from the official communication of their decision to file a contestation. Failure to meet this deadline may limit the ability to correct administrative or interpretive errors.
Additionally, certain groups must submit mandatory documentation to avoid payment suspension. Students over the age of 16 receiving survivor pensions must provide proof of continued studies within 10 days of the start of the school or university year. Furthermore, Romanian pensioners living abroad are required to submit a life certificate twice a year, with the next deadline being September 30, to confirm they are still eligible for benefits.
