Romania: Police respond to domestic threats and community unrest

In Grumăzești, a 38-year-old man was detained for 24 hours after violating judicial control measures. While under the influence of alcohol, the man allegedly approached his 75-year-old mother, threatening her with violence and stating he would set her house on fire. Although no physical injuries were reported during the confrontation, a provisional protection order has been issued for five days, and a criminal case for domestic violence and threats has been opened.

In the commune of Cenei, Timiș County, tensions escalated following the return of a 15-year-old minor involved in the death of Mario Berinde. A crowd gathered at the adolescent's residence, demanding that his mother remove him from the home. The situation turned volatile as individuals damaged the apartment door and threw eggs and flour at the residence.

Police and Gendarmerie units, including special forces, intervened to prevent further escalation. The minor was removed from the premises and relocated from the area to de-escalate the conflict. The boy's mother indicated she intends to file a formal complaint regarding the incident.
