Romania conducts rescheduled Bacalaureat 2026 math and history exams amid heatwave

On 1 July 2026 the national Bacalaureat exam resumed in Romania after a one‑day postponement caused by a red‑alert heatwave. Approximately 131 000 graduating students sat the compulsory profile test: pupils from the real and technological streams took the Mathematics paper, while those on the humanities track took History. The Mathematics exam comprised three sections covering algebra, geometry, functions, matrices, integrals and analysis; the History paper required source analysis and an essay on Romania’s mid‑20th‑century political evolution. A special reserve session at 13:00 was offered for candidates delayed by severe storms. Teacher‑led live explanations of the papers were broadcast on YouTube, and the official marking schemes for both subjects were published at 15:00 on the government portal. The exam schedule continues with choice‑subject tests on 2 July and a minority‑language paper on 3 July, with initial results expected on 7 July and final results on 13 July.
