Romania prepares for Hasidic pilgrim transit to Ukraine

Romania is preparing for a significant influx of Hasidic pilgrims traveling to Uman, Ukraine, for the Rosh Hashanah religious celebrations. The movement of people through Romanian transit points is necessitating increased security and logistical coordination.

In Suceava, authorities are managing the arrival of approximately 1,800 people at Stefan cel Mare Airport, while others entering through different airports will transit through the county toward the Siret border crossing. This influx requires additional public order measures and coordination between multiple institutions to manage traffic and security.

Similarly, Iași Airport has entered a special operating regime to handle the transit. A total of 47 flights, including 20 arrivals and 27 departures, are scheduled. To manage the flow, Terminal T3 has been reserved specifically for processing the pilgrims.
