Romania promotes urban heritage through bicycle tours and virtual exploration

In Romania, new initiatives are promoting urban exploration and heritage in Baia Mare and Sibiu.

In Baia Mare, the Order of Architects of Romania – North-West Branch, in collaboration with Maramureș Bike, is organizing an urban bicycle tour titled ‘Pe piste, la unison!’. Part of the North-West Architecture Annual 2026, the event focuses on the relationship between architecture, community, and urban regeneration. Participants will use bicycle paths to visit significant architectural landmarks, aiming to highlight urban details and spaces that define the city's identity.

Meanwhile, Sibiu has launched a 360-degree virtual panoramic tour to allow remote exploration of the city. Developed by Sibiu City Hall in partnership with Schubert&Franzke SRL, the platform features 54 landmarks, including the historic center and Piața Mare. Mayor Astrid Fodor announced the project at the International Ecotourism Fair, noting that the platform serves as a tool for tourists and locals to discover the city's built heritage and cultural institutions virtually before visiting in person.
