Multiple railway incidents occurred in Romania, including a major locomotive fire at Buftea Station and a tree falling on contact lines in the Timișoara region.

In Buftea, a fire broke out around 14:30 at line 4 involving locomotive 91108, a technological train operated by CFR S.A. used for transporting crushed stone. The locomotive, which was fueled by diesel, was reportedly consumed by flames. To ensure the safety of emergency responders from the Bucharest-Ilfov Inspectorate for Emergency Situations, authorities temporarily de-energized the contact lines between Periș and Chitila, disrupting rail traffic on both lines in that sector.

In a separate incident, a tree fell onto the contact lines in the Timișoara regional sector (Poarta Y – Teregova X), forcing the de-energization of the line and the temporary stoppage of electric trains, including an Alstom Coradia Stream service.

Additionally, an investigation report was released regarding a separate fire involving a 54-year-old DHC 190 locomotive that occurred on September 8, 2025, between Leorda and Botoșani, where smoke and flames were observed under the locomotive near the diesel engine gas purifier.
