Romania and Moldova students excel at International Olympiad in Informatics

Students from Romania and the Republic of Moldova achieved notable success at the 2026 International Olympiad in Informatics held in Uzbekistan. The Romanian team secured one gold, one silver, and two bronze medals, maintaining its position as second in the world in the historical medal standings. Notable Romanian performers include Rareș-Andrei Neculau, who won gold, and Mihai-Valeriu Voicu, who earned silver.

The Moldovan delegation also performed well, earning one silver medal through Popescu Alin and one bronze medal through Baca Alexei.

In other regional news, Romanian students earned four medals at the International Geography Olympiad in Istanbul, including two silver and two bronze medals.
