Romania records three moderate earthquakes in Vrancea zone
Three earthquakes struck Romania’s Vrancea seismic area over a period of about six hours on the night of July 25‑26. The first tremor, measured at magnitude 3.2, occurred at 23:20 near Buzău at a depth of 89 km. The strongest shock hit at 02:35 with a magnitude of 3.5, centered roughly 56 km east of Brașov and 147.7 km deep. A third, weaker quake of magnitude 2.4 was recorded at 04:52 in the Vrancea county at a depth of 18.8 km.
No damage or casualties were reported. Romanian authorities asked residents whether they felt the tremors and reminded the public of safety measures during seismic events. The sequence confirms the ongoing activity of the Vrancea zone, which regularly produces low‑to‑moderate intensity earthquakes.
