Romanian Patriarchate philanthropy Saint Francis of Assisi human trafficking prevention elderly healthcare

Various religious and philanthropic initiatives have been conducted across Romania. The Philanthropia Foundation of the Romanian Patriarchate provided free ophthalmological consultations to 100 vulnerable elderly individuals in the Panciu and Focșani II regions on October 12 and 13, 2026. This initiative, part of the 'Help an elderly person smile!' campaign, has supported over 5,000 people to date. Participants in Panciu are set to receive free eyeglasses based on their medical diagnoses.

In Ploiești, the 'Christ, King of the Universe' church hosted the relic of Saint Francis of Assisi on October 13, 2026. The event was part of the Franciscan Jubilee Year, commemorating 800 years since the saint's passing.

Additionally, the Philanthropia Timișoara Foundation held a seminar in Timișoara titled 'United we offer freedom!' on October 16, 2026. Organized in partnership with the National Agency Against Trafficking in Persons, the event focused on raising awareness and preventing human trafficking through the exchange of best practices and informative materials.
