Romania rental market sees record price increases in major cities

Rental prices in Romania's major urban centers have reached record levels, creating a significant cost gap between the capital and other municipalities. High demand from students and young professionals, combined with rising mortgage costs, is driving this market polarization.

In the national ranking, Voluntari holds the highest median rent at 900 euro per month. Bucharest and Cluj-Napoca follow with median rents of 650 euro. In Botoșani, the median rent is 370 euro, placing it 44th out of 60 analyzed locations. Specifically in Botoșani, a two-room apartment averages 460 euro per month, while three-room apartments average approximately 410 euro.

While major hubs like Bucharest, Cluj-Napoca, and Timișoara face high costs, some cities offer more affordable alternatives. Reșița recorded the lowest median rent at 290 euro, while cities like Suceava and Bacău maintain median rents around 350 euro.
