Romania: Widespread police operations target traffic and crime

Law enforcement agencies across Romania have conducted extensive operations targeting traffic violations, illegal resource exploitation, and public safety. In southern Romania, DRDP Craiova is performing origin-destination surveys on major roads to gather data for future infrastructure projects.

Police operations have resulted in numerous arrests and sanctions. Notable incidents include a drunk driver caught transporting 20 children in a 15-passenger minibus in Temes County, and several individuals caught driving without licenses or under the influence of alcohol in Sibiu, Vâlcea, and Brașov. In Botoșani, three adolescents were convicted in a child pornography case.

Environmental and community safety efforts also saw significant activity. In Caraș-Severin, police confiscated approximately 400 cubic meters of timber valued at 105,000 lei. In Mureș, authorities conducted anti-poaching measures in fishing zones, issuing over 50 sanctions. Additionally, police in Vaslui held educational sessions for students regarding drug prevention and school violence.
