Romania reports two deadly road accidents in Costinești and Cluj counties
A 47‑year‑old man jumped from a moving car on the DN39 near Costinești and was struck by two vehicles, one driven by a 22‑year‑old who fled the scene. Police identified the fleeing driver via surveillance footage; the car involved had a recorded blood‑alcohol level of 0.87 mg/L.
In a separate incident on DN1F‑E81 in Mera, Cluj County, a 36‑year‑old motorcyclist died after a head‑on collision with a car driven by a 68‑year‑old woman. The motorcyclist was alleged to have performed an illegal overtaking maneuver and entered oncoming traffic. The female driver tested negative for alcohol. Both accidents prompted investigations by local police and emergency services.
