Romania: Safety warnings issued for A2 motorway and vehicle theft tactics

Authorities in Romania are issuing warnings to drivers regarding two distinct safety and security concerns.

The Regional Directorate of Roads and Bridges (DRDP) Constanța has reported the presence of dangerous metallic objects on the A2 Motorway near kilometer 134. These objects, which may have fallen from improperly secured loads such as scrap metal, pose a high risk of tire punctures, explosions, or vehicle immobilization. Drivers are advised to reduce speed and report any obstacles immediately.

Separately, warnings have been issued regarding a theft tactic used in crowded areas like supermarket parking lots. Thieves reportedly place plastic bottles near vehicle wheels to create noise, tricking drivers into exiting their vehicles to investigate a perceived mechanical fault. This provides an opportunity for thieves to steal valuables from unlocked or running vehicles.
