Romania schedules two major book‑art exhibitions for 2026

The European International Book Art Biennale – “The Space of Freedom” will open at the Muzeul de Artă Satu Mare on 31 July 2026 and run until 9 August. The biennale features 93 artists from 23 countries across four continents, presenting works that treat the book as a medium for memory, resistance and political expression.

From 19‑21 June 2026, the 17th Alba Transilvană Book Fair will take place on the esplanade of the National Union Museum in Alba Iulia. The three‑day event will host workshops, book launches, concerts, exhibitions and conferences, showcasing titles from 83 publishing houses and two bookstores and drawing participants from the literary, artistic and cultural sectors.

Both events are organized by regional cultural institutions and aim to highlight contemporary book‑art and literature throughout Romania.
