Romania school supply costs rise amid charity efforts for students
As the new school year approaches in Romania, families are facing rising costs for educational supplies. Data from the National Institute of Statistics indicates that school books and supplies have increased in price by up to 12% compared to last year, with budgets for a single child potentially exceeding 1,000 lei.
In response to these financial pressures, the second edition of the ‘NEXT GEN DAY’ charity event is being held on August 23, 2026, at the Argeș Mall terrace. Organized by the Interact Club Pitești Leaders under the patronage of the Rotary Club Pitești Unity, the initiative aims to collect funds and school supplies for disadvantaged children through the ‘Ghiozdanul de Școală’ national project.
While many parents are navigating the choice between budget-friendly options and more expensive character-themed products, the charity event encourages community solidarity by inviting citizens and businesses to donate backpacks, notebooks, and other essential stationery to support vulnerable students.
