Romania school year 2026-2027: Education Day holiday and transport benefits

For the 2026-2027 school year in Romania, students and teachers will observe a three-day long weekend starting Saturday, October 3, through Monday, October 5, in celebration of Education Day. According to the Ministry of Education and Research, no didactic activities will be organized on October 5, with classes resuming on Tuesday, October 6.

Additionally, students in accredited or authorized pre-university education will continue to receive free public transport benefits throughout the school year. This includes local, metropolitan, county, and inter-county road transport, as well as naval, metro, and rail transport (second class) for all train categories. While rail travel benefits extend through holidays, road transport subsidies for commuting students are specifically granted during the course period.
