Romania supports ambitious EU budget in talks with Eurogroup President
President Nicușor Dan met with Eurogroup President Kyriakos Pierrakakis at Cotroceni Palace to discuss the future budget of the European Union. Dan stated that Romania supports an ambitious EU budget designed to meet common priorities and the investment needs required for European development.
The discussions also covered the digitalization of tax administration and measures to increase collection efficiency while reducing tax evasion. Dan noted that cooperation and the experiences of other member states could accelerate progress in these areas.
Pierrakakis, who also serves as the Minister of Economy and Finance for Greece, highlighted bilateral relations and praised Romania’s technology industry ecosystem. The Eurogroup's current work program through June 2027 focuses on competitiveness, economic sovereignty, energy, artificial intelligence, and the strategic role of the euro.
