Romania: Survey shows high dissatisfaction with taxation and public services

A survey conducted by APSAP involving 3,591 respondents reveals significant dissatisfaction with the Romanian fiscal and public service systems. According to the data, 81.6% of participants consider taxation to be excessive, with high levels of discontent noted among both private sector (83.6%) and public sector (77.9%) employees.

The study highlights a growing gap between mandatory contributions and the quality of services received. Specifically, 65.6% of respondents opt for private healthcare services. Additionally, 54.8% of those surveyed reported having to use personal savings or facing complete depletion of savings due to financial pressures over the last 12 months.

Bogdan-Costin Fârșirotu, president of the APSAP Training Center Foundation, noted that the issue is not merely the level of taxes but the "public yield." He suggested that citizens are increasingly forced to purchase individual services for health, education, and safety despite their mandatory contributions to the state.
