Romania suspends water services in Brăila and Bucharest for network upgrades

The public utility company in Brăila announced a temporary halt to drinking water supply in the Viziru I district on Wednesday, 24 June 2026, between 09:00 and 14:00. The interruption affects households, businesses, a cinema, a kindergarten and a school as the water network undergoes rehabilitation. Residents were advised to store a minimum amount of water and warned that the water may appear cloudy when service resumes due to sediment disturbance.

In Bucharest, the municipal heating company will suspend hot‑water delivery to roughly 1,500 apartment blocks across several city zones between 22 June and early July as part of a modernization project under the POIM programme. The shutdown covers 72 thermal points (about 1,100 blocks) in one area, 37 points (386 blocks) in another, and 10 points (60 blocks) in a third. Customers can obtain updates via a dedicated phone line and the Termoalert app.
