Romania tightens regulation of online casinos with new player‑protection rules
Romanian authorities have introduced stricter rules for online casino operators. Players must set daily, weekly and monthly deposit limits and can take a 24‑hour “time‑out” break. An auto‑exclusion option allows users to block themselves for periods up to six months. The measures aim to promote responsible gambling and protect mental health.
The Office for Gambling (ONJN) oversees licensing, and the new framework lists approved operators such as Superbet, Betano and NetBet. These sites must comply with the new limits and provide tools for self‑exclusion and spending control.
The regulations are intended to reduce problem‑gaming risks while ensuring that licensed operators continue to offer their services under tighter supervision.
